Piston held a two-day transport strike against the government for its plan to phase out jeepneys in the country. Jeepney is perhaps one of the pride of the country because back in the days they found ingenuity. It was a modification from jeeps that were sold or given by the American troops to Filipino when they left Philippines.

From the old look of Jeep, a 4-5 seater became a 20-22 seater jeepney and a mass transport in the entire country for decades. For at least 70 decades, the country became contented with this mass transport vehicle. The masses may like to seat in comfortable seat but they can't because this is only what the jeepney operators has to offer.

Piston, one of the biggest organizations of jeepney drivers and operators opposes the proposed modernization by the government as it will cost them 1 million.

As a commuter, we acknowledge what the Piston's side but I agree with the transportation expert Primitivo Cal that this modernization is "long overdue" and we deserve a better system.

The new design has a lot of feature that are commuter friendly. The seat is not like its predecessor that makes commuters hits or almost hit each other's knee because of the crowded seating. You'll be unlucky if you are seated to the innermost of the jeep and you have to go down by getting through that legs.

Netizens are divided by this proposed modernization on PUV or jeepneys in particular. Most of the commuters agree to it as they want to experience the best for them. Of course netizens who do not agree with modernization are coming from jeepney drivers and operators.

With regards to the cost of the modern jeeps, the government offers a loan scheme for the operators and its cooperatives to avail the new design.

Here are some of the features of these new design jeeps,

  • more environment-friendly
  • powered with Euro 4 engines or electrically-powered engines with solar panels for roofs
  • equipped with safety features
    • speed limiter, closed-circuit television camera (CCTV), GPS, and dashboard camera
  • 22-passenger seating capacity (excluding driver)
  • equipped with PWD-friendly
Those are only few of them. As a commuter, who doesn't want that? Come on! Jeepney has been around for decades and we can't see any ingenuity anymore in that.

Change is costly but if we do not want sacrifice for a change, we will always be at the same place.

Question is, are we ready to accept the changes in our jeeps?

Few days ago, Pres. Duterte let the PDEA as the sole agency for his War on Drugs policy. This is perhaps a good move since PDEA is mandated against illegal drugs. PDEA agents are trained for drug operations and other stuff.

In this new order of Pres. Duterte, Oplan Tokhang is suspended but the PNP will still maintain its visibility "at all times" according to the news. Now, with this order are the anti-Duterte, yellowtards (as they call), CBCP and other opposition group will stop?

The answer is "No". For whatever reasons, the current administration will continue to receive critics. Destabilization plots? We will always have that. Human being are meant to be divided. I don't see any changes since I was awaken in this complex world Philippines in particular. I will never see a united country, we are meant to be divided after all.

What do we have now? Currently as this war on drugs slowly subsides as the PDEA lead the War on Drugs, fake news and troll wars already started.

Thinking Pinoy one of the well known blogger and supporter of Pres. Duterte unearthed the source of fake news being spread by the previous administration/yellowtards/yellow party/liberal party and many more titles. What happened now after TP exposes them? The very least is that, many were enlighten but unfortunately, there are still people who doubted it.

So my question, will Change be coming to all of us? No!

By the way, the change I'm talking here is the change about how we Filipinos treat each other when it comes to our government issues.

Kian Loyd Delos Santos , the 17-year-old high school student in Caloocan City was killed in an anti-drug operation of the PNP. It was very unfortunate for his family as they don't believe Kian was involved in any drug activities.

Earlier this week, we shared our thoughts on the dark side of War on drugs of Pres. Duterte which for use shows the negative side or potential cause of abuse on war on drugs. In the case of Kian, it's very alarming if it's true because it could taint the war on drugs. Based on what we see from the social media, anti Dutertes are getting louder and this could be an opportunity for the group of people who are against PDuts from day one.

Who could benefit in the case of Kian Loyd Delos Santos?
  • LP/Liberal Party or the Yellow.
Since Duterte defeated their horse Mar Roxas, LP loss their chance to continue their power to control manipulate the government, money and everything from above for their personal interest.
  • Drug Lords
Of course the drug lords. The drug business started to get weaken as this administration started war on drugs operation. From our place, shabu business is the fastest way to get rich. Who doesn't want to get rich, right? Drug business during its peak period was just like anyone's business. You have the capital, you can easily start your own shabu business. It was hassle free, just give money to the right people. Drug operation raid? Nothing to worry, if you pay the right people from the PNP you will be notified before the operation. It's faster than Facebook notification.
  • Rogue PNP's
Rogue PNPs usually are the beneficiaries of these drug moneys and other illegal activities. As shown from a CCTV footage during the senate hearing on Extra-Judicial Killing last year, policemen who conducted drug raid operation planted drugs and guns so that they can use it as evidence against the employees of the companies they allegedly raided.

So if the clamor to stop the war on drugs continues and eventually stop, Rogue PNP's will surely be benefiting from it.

These group of people are just few of them, of course we skipped the obvious such as drug users/addicts.

Let's see what will happen to this issue, but for us, if it's true that the police who conducted the operation did it in an improper procedure, then they should be liable and be held responsible.

Since there are no proofs that it was illegitimate then we stood by to this war on drugs but this continues, there should be another way to fight this drug problem in this country. It should not be stop IMO.

Warning: This is not a general statement but a first hand experience by a friend who shared his story to me.

Davao City, one of the safest city in the world. If you listen to one of the popular FM news station Brigada News FM, from their tagline, home of the first Mindanawan president and one of the safest city in the world.

Last year, I left my phone at Brokenshire Hospital near at the nurses station and unfortunately I wasn't able to recover it. I returned to the chair where I left my phone but no one was honest enough to turn over it to the nurses station or even to the guards.

Cotabato City, I lived almost my entire life. We moved to Cotabato City from Manila at the age of 5 and up to this time I have never lost or got robbed at Cotabato City. So when I lost my phone I also started to lost confident to Davao City.

In Cotabato City, I noticed that there are people there who cares and willing to return items that not theirs. See Facebook posts below from a Cotabato City community page.

Living at subdivision with  security guards and installed CCTV's will make you feel confident. But putting all your trust is a no-no anywhere in this country. Even it's Davao City, which was fifth safest city in the world posted at Inquirer June of 2015.

Looking at the crime rate above and now that I'm living here in Davao City I can say that I belong to those people who worries being home broken and things stolen.

June of 2017, my mountain bike was stolen here in Davao City, one of the safest city in world. I asked a friend to share my bad experience at public Facebook group, hope you understand Bisaya.

With these experience, I feel so unwelcome in this city. Yes, I have a choice to stay here in Davao City or not. We all have our reasons moving from one place to the other so don't say to me that I have a choice to leave. What I'm trying to say or share is, are you Davaoeños really care about your fellow people who live here. Based on my research, there's also place somewhere in Agdao where stolen items are being traded and sold. Are the police investigators do not know anything about these places? Even the woman who sold my bike to "stranger"(according to her) is still free and perhaps still doing her business which is probably, buy stolen item and sell to anyone.

For me, Safest City in the world ka dyan! Walang safe oi. Kahit saan yan huuy! Don't be too confident sa Davao City.
Davao City Mayor asked police authorities to focus on crime against person and properties, according to news posted above. Good luck! They should be doing this. As for me, who already have idea to whereabouts of my bike, I will have no help from our authorities. All I can do for now is wish for the people who uses my bike, stole and sold is just die. I wish ma-tokhang na na silang tanan.

Suspected drug user/pusher Nanlaban patay!

SHOOTOUT (INQUIRER FILE PHOTO/ ARNOLD ALMACEN)

Di naman po sa di kami sang-ayon sa War on Drugs in PDuts bagkos gustong gusto namin eto ng matapos na etong salot na droga. Kaso welcome to the dark side of War on Drugs of Duterte dahil ground level operation, di natin alam kung ano talaga nangyayari.

Isa sa pwedeng mangyari sa panahon ngayon, may nakaalitan kang pulis. Anong pwedeng gawin nya?

The Office of the Ombudsman will look into the propriety of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald de la Rosa’s free trip to Las Vegas to watch Sen. Manny Pacquiao’s fight with Jessie Vargas over the weekend.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales has reportedly initiated a probe to determine if the police official’s act of receiving such gift from the boxing champion did not violate Republic Act 6713 or the code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials and employees.
De la Rosa himself admitted that Pacquiao, who won the fight, paid for everything for him and his family to watch the bout and he did not spend personal or public funds to go to the United States.
RA 6713 states that “public officials and employees shall not solicit or accept, directly or indirectly, any gift, gratuity, favor, entertainment, loan or anything of monetary value from any person in the course of their official duties or in connection with any operation being regulated by, or any transaction which may be affected by, the functions of their office.”
Pacquiao reportedly shouldered the travel and hotel accommodation expenses of a handful of his supporters who wanted to watch his fight.
